September 30 marked the 125th anniversary celebration for Bethsadia Baptist Church, Cullman. According to Linda Pace, who served on the church’s birthday committee, about 120 people were in attendance for the special day.
The morning worship service featured two of the church’s former pastors as well as six former ministers of music who all spoke a few words to the congregation.
One of the former ministers of music, Ronnie Cook, sang, and another former minister of music, Rob Harris, played the piano. The church choir also provided music.
Pace presented a reading of church minute excerpts from a record book dating back to 1910, and Pastor Jim Abbott then spoke to the congregation.
A lunch was provided in the fellowship hall after the service, and a singing with The Soul Seekers quartet followed.
Pace noted that various memorabilia items, such as old church bulletins and family portraits of some of the church’s original members, were displayed in the fellowship hall. There also was a slideshow presentation featuring former members and pastors, and a shadow box was displayed that included some church minutes.
“I think everyone really enjoyed it,” Pace said of the day.
According to Abbott, who has served at the West Cullman Baptist Association church more than four years, Bethsadia Baptist is a “missions-minded church.” He believes the church is going in the right direction and that “people are excited about what is going on.” He added that God is doing a great work, and “we believe He’s continuing to do that.”
