Baptist Health System (BHS) and Schmidt Wallace Healthcare Management Company, Inc. have finalized an agreement regarding the sale of BHS’ Shelby Ridge nursing home.
As of Jan. 1, ownership of the nursing home was transferred to Shelby Ridge Acquisition Corporation, an affiliate of privately held, Montgomery-based Schmidt Wallace.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of this transaction and feel it is a positive step,” said Shelby Baptist Medical Center President Chuck Colvert. “Finding a new owner who has a proven record of outstanding patient care was a priority for us. It was of primary importance that high quality health care be maintained at Shelby Ridge.”
Schmidt Wallace owns three other nursing homes in Alabama – Albertville Nursing Home in Albertville, Talladega Healthcare Center in Talladega and Hillview Terrace Healthcare Center in Montgomery – and two assisted living facilities- Summer Place and Autumn Trace, both located in Talladega.
Baptist Health System has owned and operated Shelby Ridge since 1998.
