Shane Spees, president and chief executive officer of Baptist Health System (BHS), has resigned to become president and chief executive officer of North Mississippi Health Services in Tupelo.
The board of directors made the announcement Nov. 6.
“While we are disappointed to see Shane leave, North Mississippi represents a unique professional opportunity for Shane,” said John Holcomb, chairman of the BHS board of trustees. “Additionally, and probably most importantly, Shane and his wife, Parker, were raised in Tupelo and their parents still reside there. Shane will be able to continue his growth as a health-care leader while returning home and being closer to family.
“Shane has performed superbly since joining Baptist Health System of Alabama in 2007 as our chief executive officer,” Holcomb said. “Baptist is definitely a stronger organization thanks to Shane’s leadership. One of the most important legacies Shane will leave behind is the strategic direction and strong management team he has built.”
Spees will remain at the helm through mid-December, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.
