Birmingham-natives Jon and Andy Erwin recently brought home their first Dove Award for their work on the Casting Crowns’ video “Slow Fade.”
Jon, a member of The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, in Birmingham Baptist Association, and Andy, a member of Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, started Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures 10 years ago and have been in the television industry ever since. They have produced around 40 music videos, including videos for Point of Grace, Third Day and Switchfoot.
This year, the Erwin brothers were nominated for four Dove awards. They won in the short form music video category. The awards were presented April 23 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
“It was amazing and kind of surreal,” Andy said of the experience. “We were really surprised by the whole situation, and we felt like fish out of water. When they called out the win for ‘Slow Fade,’ we got a chance to go up on stage with the band.”
He said the band let him and Jon say a few words on stage, giving him a chance to thank his wife and his father, state Sen. Hank Erwin. “We were really humbled,” Andy said. To watch the winning video and others, visit www.erwinbrothers.com.
