A blind Christian falsely accused of blasphemy has been denied bail in Pakistan, despite inconsistencies in the case presented against him, his attorney said.
Nadeem Masih, 49, has been jailed in Lahore, Pakistan, since Aug. 21, for a blasphemy charge under Section 295-C of local blasphemy statutes concerning insulting Muhammad. The charge carries a death penalty, his attorney Javed Sahotra explained to Christian Daily International-Morning Star News.

On Feb. 4, the Lahore High Court rejected Masih’s request for bail, claiming he might flee or tamper with witnesses.
Discrepancies
One inconsistency in the case, Sahotra said, is that call data shows Masih was not at Model Town Park, where the blasphemy incident supposedly occurred, at the time it was said to have happened.
Also, the police report has a time discrepancy that calls police narrative into question, Sahotra said.
Masih’s mother told Christian Daily-Morning Star the blasphemy accusation happened after a dispute with park workers, noting his job was to operate a weighing scale used by park visitors.
World Watch
Pakistan is No. 8 on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
