Alabama author Katy Shelton continues her devotional series July 23 with the release of “Forever Matters: How the Return of Jesus Completes You.”
“Do you ever feel like you know where you’ve been, but you’re unsure where you’re going? I sure do. Our world today is unpredictable and challenging, leaving most of us feeling this way at times.
“But what if we can know where we’re going? What if we’ve actually been told what lies ahead? What if we’ve been given a road map of sorts, a glimpse into the future, a revelation?” Shelton asks in “Forever Matters.”
“Forever Matters” was written because Shelton wanted to personally gain understanding of the final book of the Bible. However, she admits she doesn’t have the answers and even after this journey is “still perplexed” by what it says.
Practical help
But her goal wasn’t to interpret every prophecy or to explain every chapter and verse in Revelation.
Instead, she wanted to be practical. Her desire was to focus on how the lessons of Revelation can be used to help believers now, not just in the future.
Each chapter in the book corresponds to one in Revelation, which Shelton urges readers to read first.
Each chapter begins with a focus verse followed by a modern-day example of that chapter’s topic. A few pages expound on the passage of Scripture and end with three reflection sections: “Process,” “Prayer” and “Promise.”
“Revelation is about future events that will surely take place but more importantly, it’s about Jesus. It’s about His glorious victory and our glorious destiny. And spoiler alert: Because of Him, in the end we as believers will win,” Shelton said.
Shelton co-wrote the first two devotionals in the series — “Easter Matters: How the Resurrection of Jesus Changes You” and “Christmas Matters: How the Birth of Jesus Makes a Difference Every Day” — with fellow Alabama author Anna Nash. Learn about Shelton and her books at katyshelton.com.
