“Instead of trusting our heavenly Father’s authority over our day, sometimes it’s easier to complain and focus on the circumstances of our daily life,” writes author, speaker and podcast host Cleere Cherry Reaves.
“Maybe the goals we’re seeking are genuinely good. We’d like a new car to make sure we have a reliable way to commute to work every day, or we’re looking for an opportunity to move closer to family. In times like these, we must remind ourselves of the One who has authority over where we’ve been, where we currently stand and the place where we’re going.”
52-week devotional
Reaves’ 52-week devotional, “Revive: Declarations of God’s Truth to Renew Your Spirit,” was released in October and serves as a tool to find peace through any of life’s circumstances.
An ideal way to start the New Year, each chapter consists of a Scripture, a two-page devotional and five declarations. One way to utilize the devotional is to read the devotion on Mondays, meditate on the Scripture on Tuesdays and focus on one of the declarations each day for the rest of the week.
Examples of declarations include:
- “I will surrender my plans and let the Spirit reprioritize according to His order and design.”
- “I will remember that obedience is linked to trust, not understanding. He is God and I am not.”
- “I will trust God with the timing of the harvest. Waiting on God is always worth it.”
“I genuinely believe that if you are intentional with this book and practice these declarations, God will use it to work miracles inside you, through you and around you,” Cleere writes. “When you meditate on the character of God and let that determine your perspective, everything shifts even if nothing around you changes.”
