After retiring from more than 40 years of nursing, Helen Boyd is still caring for and providing attention to people. Boyd volunteers at one of Calhoun Baptist Association’s service centers, handing out food and clothes to the needy. She is also a prayer warrior who loves her Sunday School class and said the members are like a family. She added she feels that way about her entire church.
Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: My parents carried me to church for as long as I can remember. I was saved when I was 12 years old.
Q: How have you been involved in church through the years?
A: I have done a little of everything in the church. I used to teach children. I played the organ for about 11 or 12 years.
Q: How have churches changed over the years?
A: When I was a child, we just sang gospel hymns. There is a lot of praise music now. I like the gospel hymns more because that’s what I was raised on.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in church in the future?
A: As long as I am able, I will do whatever I can.
Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: I don’t know anything else. I don’t know how anyone could not be a Christian. To me, that’s life. The Lord blesses me with everything I do.
