This time last year, my teaching schedule in the universities was packed out. By the end of spring semester, my team and I were teaching 16 English classes a week.
This school year, I expected to be similarly as busy in the classrooms.
But due to a major health quarantine and the following manic schoolwork catch-up, my teaching schedule slowed down to four classes a week.
What is a Journeyman to do with all that down time?
Initially I panicked, thinking that I was going to be a waste of IMB time and funds. But then new doors began to open. I began having students contact me, asking me if we could spend time together outside of class. Currently I’m spending my weekends with various groups of girls who want to spend time getting to know me. We talk about the influences in our lives, significant events, what motivates us.
A year ago, I began praying the Lord would open opportunities to invest intentionally in the lives of unbelieving students. This year, I’m seeing answers to that prayer!
Yesterday I got a call from a friend, telling me that there are about eight more students who want to be a part of the weekend hang-out groups. Prayerfully, more and more students will show interest and want to join.
Thank you, Swine flu, for providing free time!
