I was recently invited by the business university in my city to begin an English club. The funny thing is that I know absolutely nothing about business — I’m an English teacher. I tried to explain that to the administration. Nobody listened apparently and [Sept. 30], I found myself in a room full of business students who were waiting to hear my words of wisdom. Thankfully I’d shamelessly begged friends from home to send me whatever ideas they could come up with about business, and I’d crafted some semblance of a plan. The best part of the meeting, however, was not my newfound business savvy but rather the fact that four of the girls wanted my phone number so they could call to hang out outside of school. In a largely secular society that bans God from the schools, this was an answer to prayer. I spend the majority of my time in the local colleges and universities, building relationships with students and faculty and inviting them to off-campus activities. I’m not allowed to discuss my faith in school settings, so the time I can spend with the students away from their schools is priceless.
I’d greatly appreciate your prayers for the students, particularly these four business students. I’m expecting God to work out great things for their lives.
