At age 36, Brian Tribble had a wife and four young children and a job he loved. In the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 1997, the music minister of Centercrest Baptist Church in Birmingham was preparing to leave for a Promise Keepers rally. Instead of boarding a bus for Washington, D.C., however, he was shot and killed inside the church by a would-be robber.
The book is the detailed story of Brian’s life and death as told by his pastor. The author explains in the prologue that he is often asked questions about Brian’s murder, a story that made national headlines. He wrote the book to tell that story, but also to tell the story of Brian’s widow, the church and the community, who “faithed the future” after Brian’s tragic death, and the local sheriff’s department, which solved the crime and arrested the suspect quickly. Although the story is a sad one, the book is positive and upbeat, a tribute to a life that made a positive impact on those Brian Tribble left behind.
