This year has been an unusual one for us. We started out working in our regional MK camp. Jim served as security and handy man for the camp and Brenda did Bible studies with the 12-year-olds. It was a real privilege for us to be involved in helping out with the camp that meant so much to our daughter, Paige, during her last few years in the field.
In late January we flew to Lusaka, Zambia, and spent two weeks gathering literature from their files. In March, we spent time working with our personnel in a security position in our region.
In April and May, Jim led conferences for missionaries serving in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
In August we worked with the young man in the business platform and were able to help move the business in a new direction, which should free our personnel for more ministry activities. During our time there, we began to develop friendships with several Hindu/Muslim people that we hope will open doors for others who will follow to share the gospel.
We are back in our offices in Johannesburg now trying to get literature into computer format and available to our missionaries around the world.
We thank you for your prayers and ask you to continue praying for us. Pray for wisdom in our tasks and leadership in a security-sensitive situation. Pray for our safety as we travel in the Johannesburg area where robberies and car jackings are daily occurrences. Pray for more ministry opportunities among the Portuguese-speaking people of Johannesburg.
