The leader of the rights group ChinaAid says persecution of Christians in China has intensified but that believers are persevering and that Christianity is increasing.

Foreigners doing missionary work — even as businessmen or students — are being sent out of China. Also, foreigners are not allowed to teach or preach in China unless they are granted authorization from the Communist Party of China, which is a rarity, Fu explained.
Arrested and charged
In addition, Fu said pastors are being arrested and charged with “business fraud” for collecting offerings and that surveillance is ever present in the churches.
“All four corners of the church, including the pulpit, have to install facial recognition cameras in order to monitor all those who are attending the church worship services,” said Fu, according to ChinaAid.
China is No. 15 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
