Calvary Baptist Church, Dothan, participated in a missions effort in Guatemala in July. The team of 20, including Calvary’s pastor, Van Gauthe, and pastor of missions, Ed Wright, worked in the mountains of San Lucas.
The group divided into three different teams as a way to effectively minister to a broader range of people. The child evangelism and medical teams worked in San Lucas and some surrounding villages, teaching in schools and providing health care to the villagers. Construction team members worked with a local mission on constructing a 150-capacity building, which will house the congregation and the theological extension center for the region.
