Breathe In Deep
Centricity Music
Centricity music has a new band, formerly an independent band known as Mosteller for the lead singer’s surname, now renamed Carrollton after the little town that is central to their respective homes in Ohio and Kentucky where they meet to write and practice. That may be an unusual way to name a band but no matter. These guys are the real thing. Their first Extended Play (EP) for Centricity is as good a first effort as I’ve heard in a while.
The record starts with “Pass You By,” based on Matthew 6:25 and invites the listener to just slow down and stop worrying. The opening riffs had me thinking U2 had somehow snuck onto the record and Justin Mosteller’s gravelly vocals work well against the light rock and tight background vocals. “Red,” an almost country song with inspiring lyrics about the saving blood of Jesus is another standout. The EP even gives you three more bonus tracks, all good. This is an impressive first effort on their new label and I expect we’ll hear a lot more.
Solid writing, skillful and inspired playing and impressive production make this a record you should consider.
