Alabama lawmakers have pushed public schools for more accountability and a sharper focus on student outcomes. But under the state’s new CHOOSE Act school choice program, that responsibility won’t apply to private schools.
U.S. Sen. Katie Britt, R-Alabama, a big advocate for expanding tax breaks for families with children, applauded the expansion of the child and dependent care tax credit included in the Senate Finance Committee’s portion of the megabill.
The rate at which the ABPP grants parole has drawn increased scrutiny in recent years amid the state’s crowded prisons and the board’s failure to comply with its own guidelines.
“We’re at the Paris Air Show to strengthen relationships, pursue new investment, and position Alabama as the go-to destination for aerospace growth in the U.S,” Bob Smith, commerce’s specialist on the aerospace industry.
Limited medical marijuana was legalized in Alabama in 2021 through the Compassion Act, carried by Sen. Tim Melson, R-Florence, which established the AMCC to review candidates and award and issue licenses to grow and sell some products.
“Our nation’s doctor shortage threatens to make it harder for millions of Americans to access the lifesaving care they depend on,” U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell said in a statement. “The situation is especially dire for rural communities.”
