“When the Lord brought us an offer from a growing church who desperately needed the space, we voted overwhelmingly to sell and relocate,” said pastor Steve Potts.
Gerald Burns said — as he always has — that if someone else were to take over, he would step aside and let them. But for now, “as long as I’m able, I don’t mind doing it,” he said.

The next season for the congregation of Trussville’s Deerfoot Baptist Church includes a new location, possibly new branding and definitely “a church set up to mentor and disciple members to be effective ministers in the community.”
Gil McKee served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa for nearly 25 years. His final Sunday in the role was Jan. 19. “It’s been the most rewarding, fulfilling pastorate of my life. It’s my Ephesus.”
