A couple of years ago, Wilson Ramsey got a trailer to move his son’s furniture from Mississippi to Illinois. And when he got back home, he was trying to figure out what to do with it.
“Across the board, [experts on dementia] say socialization is the thing people need. … They are still capable of creating new memories,” Leigh Simmons, director of Pathways, said.
The Women’s Mentoring Ministry of Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville pairs mentors and mentees.
As Karen Gosselin and the choir of seventh through 12th graders gathered at Shocco Springs on March 14, they all knew they were staring down the barrel of a stormy weekend.
“Vacation Bible School isn’t just for kids — teens and adults need to meet Jesus too,” said Patty Burns, VBS strategist for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
“The Lord is well capable of tending us and leading us through very complicated territory,” she said.
“We’re humbled and beyond grateful for the support that has made this journey possible,” she said.
“I never knew how I could establish such a bond with people that I never laid eyes on before and how much we could love each other in Christ like I do with these girls,” Debra Cross said.
