“Can you send us anybody?” That was the question Robert Reed’s father-in-law, Steve Townson, asked him a few months ago — and set something new in motion.
In Alabama, approximately 6,000 children are currently in the foster care system. Children enter this system for various reasons, including abuse, neglect, abandonment and socio-economic factors, among others.
The federal program, set to begin in 2027, offers taxpayers a dollar-for-dollar income tax credit – up to $1,700 annually – for donations to nonprofit organizations that provide scholarships to eligible K-12 students.
