God calls us to take up our cross and follow Him (Mark 8:34-35), but few of us are as eager to do so as we often communicate. In fact, like Peter, we are much quicker to deny our Lord than to deny ourselves.
For many, nothing is more mysterious and elusive than discerning how God wants them to live. The consternation and confusion caused by this dilemma can be exhausting.
“Isn’t it surreal when you look around and find a solid force of friends and family who believe in you and support your dream or calling?”
Much like breathing, we will find that we need Jesus to survive.
Let’s learn from the mistakes of those who admonish us through their pain. You and I do not have to be another spiritual casualty in the kingdom of God if we will heed the warnings of those whose mistakes instruct us.
If I may state the promise succinctly, God is always working for your good, even when you can’t see it.
The term comes from folks who love to exaggerate the details of their fishing prowess to impress people, such as inflating the size of the proverbial “fish that got away.”
Try this: Next time somebody does or says something that flips your angry switch, force yourself to ponder Jesus, salvation, heaven, unconditional love, everlasting life, peace, stuff like that.
