Stanley Kilgore, pastor of Center Grove Baptist Church, Cullman, led a missions team to Belize Dec. 5–13. While primarily consisting of Center Grove Baptist members, the 12-member team also included members of North Gardendale Baptist Church; Mount Zion Baptist Church, Warrior; and First Baptist Church, Pinson.
For most of the trip, the team stayed in Pueblo Viejo, where Kilgore has been teaching at the Maya Missions pastors’ training school for 20 years. While he taught at the school during the day, a construction team worked on a women’s center for it.
In the evenings, the team attended worship services at village churches. Team members did everything from preaching to providing special music and drama.
The rest of the missions team prepared for a three-day Vacation Bible School (VBS) in Crique Sarco. During VBS, the construction team built a shelter for a van donated to the village churches by Center Grove and preached in evangelistic church meetings in Crique Sarco.
In all, Kilgore said, there were 46 professions of faith among adults, teenagers and children.
