In a two-service celebration that emphasized former ministry leaders, Centreville Baptist Church in Bibb Baptist Association marked its 125th anniversary Oct. 11.
The 10:30 a.m. service featured a sermon by former Alabama Baptist State Convention president Henry Cox, who was ordained at Centreville Baptist in 1960. Glenn Sandifer, son of longtime Centreville Baptist pastor Hayne Sandifer, shared about “glimpses of the past” and Bill Wallace, director of missions for Cahaba and Hale Baptist associations who was ordained at Centreville Baptist, gave the offertory prayer. Pastor Kenneth Fuller served as emcee. Special music was sung by the choir and a church ensemble.
After a fellowship lunch participants gathered at 1 p.m. for a congregational singing. Eddie Lightsey, Grady Chism and Mark Cottingham, all of whom accepted the call to ministry at Centreville Baptist, each sang special music. Former minister of youth Jay Jerrell also sang a special. Longtime minister of music and youth Connie Hale also participated in the afternoon service.
