Centrifuge camp set for Alabama for first time in nearly 15 years

Alabama students will have the option to attend Centrifuge in their own state for the first time in nearly 15 years when the LifeWay Christian Resources camp returns to the University of Mobile (UM) in June and July 2010.

Those interested in attending M-Fuge, another of LifeWay’s Fuge camps, will be able to stay close to home, too, as UM becomes one of only a few locations to offer both programs on the same campus, something LifeWay calls combo camps.

“Centrifuge is our longest-running camp that focuses on involving students in recreation to teach biblical truths and team building,” said Mark Robbins, student event coordinator for LifeWay.

“M-Fuge is our ministry-based camp where students are placed on different ministry teams that leave campus to go serve strategic ministry locations in and around the city of Mobile, giving students hands-on ministry involvement,” he explained.

In 1981, UM became the first college to offer Centrifuge and has the longest-running Fuge ministry on a college campus. In 1996, UM switched from Centrifuge to M-Fuge.

Now is the time for youth groups, small groups and individuals to reserve their spots at these camps.

Both camps are open to students entering seventh grade through college.

“Camp leaves a mark on a student’s life,” Robbins said. “When campers leave after a week of M-Fuge or Centrifuge, they leave changed.

“Campers are challenged and stretched, and they cannot wait to go home and share their experiences, taking what they learned and applying it in their everyday lives.”

UM Centrifuge and M-Fuge camp sessions run June 7–July 31, 2010.

Both camps feature speaker Duke Dismukes and worship leader SoloFlight. (UM)
