Charles Raymond Crim, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, Selma, died Dec. 5. He was 80.
Crim, who spent 60 years in ministry, also served as pastor of Carlowville Baptist Church, Minter, for six years.
Born in Texas, Crim graduated from East Texas Baptist College (now East Texas Baptist University) in Marshall, Texas.
When he was 20, he became pastor of Mission Springs Baptist Church, Henderson, Texas, and later served several churches in Texas.
In 1976, Crim and his wife, Lottie, were appointed as Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board) missionaries and served in Wyoming.
Charles Crim was instrumental in helping to form the Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention in 1982. He later served as director of missions for several areas of Wyoming until retiring in 1998.
In 2001, Charles Crim began to serve as pastor of Lana’i Baptist Church, on the island of Lana’i in Hawaii.
Charles Crim also served as a Home Mission Board consultant, traveling to assist several churches across the nation in forming missions strategies. He and Lottie Crim also traveled to South America and North Africa on missions trips.
Crim is survived by his wife, three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
