Two new Christian resource booklets are now available from The Alabama Baptist — “Children in the Church” and “The English Bible.”
“Children in the Church” provides resources for children’s ministers, teachers, pastors and church members to learn innovative ways of ministering to children.
“Every worker with children will benefit from this booklet,” said Bob Terry, president and publisher of The Alabama Baptist. “The reference for understanding physical development helps one know what to expect from children of various ages. Suggestions about ways to guide the spiritual development of children will help workers be purposeful in their activities and guidance of children.”
Terry noted the booklet deals with some of the issues children could be experiencing such as divorce and abuse. “Churches and teachers alike will find the information about warning signs helpful, along with policy suggestions to help protect children from abuse,” he said.
“The English Bible” booklet, written by John B. Polhill, senior professor of New Testament interpretation at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., addresses the Holy Bible’s path as it was translated into the English language. It also provides comparisons of current standard translations and a “how-to” guide for choosing an appropriate translation.
“This compact booklet has a wealth of material about archaeological finds, about the transmission of the Bible from one culture to another and insights into the contributions and pitfalls of various translations and paraphrase editions of the Bible,” Terry said. “It is an outstanding presentation designed for church members who take Bible study seriously.”
