There was a mop-haired kid on the sixth season of American Idol, came in 10th. He was kind of chunky, pretty witty and had a golden voice. And he was, and still is, a Christian. Yes, that guy, Chris Sligh. He’s back and on his debut solo album, “Running Back to You,” he kinda brings it.

His smooth, almost syrupy voice soars through the tracks, all of which are frothy with energy. The sound is mostly up-tempo Top 40 rock, except for the occasional quirky digression; “Loaded Gun” comes to mind, and the ’80s-leaning “Love is Raining Down,” which are actually two of the better songs.
