Hello Love

Chris Tomlin wants his latest record to “help people voice their worship to God.” Good job, Chris. Mission accomplished. Tomlin’s sound owes much to his one-time day job of worship leader for student conferences. “Hello Love” pours an hour’s worth of the swelling Christian emotion typical of such events into your ears. In turn, you will belt the songs out in the middle of the next day, the next week, whenever you need them — they are that powerful and that catchy. In fact, the driving urgency of the opening (and best) track of the album, “Sing, Sing, Sing,” could easily hook fans of U2’s most sugar-coated radio hits.
The next song, “Jesus Messiah,” spent some time at No. 1 on iTunes Christian Top Chart. Because of his immense popularity in American churches, Time magazine said Tomlin might be “the most often sung artist anywhere.” You can hear the reason why in “Hello Love.”
