A Christian woman and her baby reportedly have been held captive in a locked room in Somalia since early August.
This is the second time the woman’s Muslim family members and relatives have done this to her, Morning Star News reported.
The news article states that Fatuma Hassan, 28, and her baby daughter have been captives in a locked, dark room since Aug. 6.

“My family and relatives have sworn that they will not allow me to see the good sunshine until I surrender my Christian faith and return to Islam,” Morning Star quoted her as saying.
Vision
A few years ago, Hassan started listening to Christian worship songs on her phone. During that time, she had a vision of a Man who identified Himself as Jesus, saying to her, “I know you are thirsty. Come and drink of My water,” she recounted.
When her family discovered her activity, her phone was confiscated and she was locked in a room. She escaped in March 2024 and went to Balad town in Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region.
She married a Christian man, and her whereabouts were unknown to her family for a year.
After her family and other Muslim relatives learned her location, six of them went to her Aug. 6 and some beat her.
World Watch
Along with her child, Hassan was forced into captivity in Afgooye town in Lower Shebelle region. According to Morning Star, Hassan has communicated with her husband, telling him that their 1-year-old is growing thin from inadequate nourishment.
Somalia is No. 2 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
