Christian Women’s Leadership Center offers learning, community

For the past 14 years, national Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) and Samford University in Birmingham have partnered to assist women in furthering their leadership capabilities through the Christian Women’s Leadership Center (CWLC).

CWLC offers opportunities for learning and community networking to help women realize the fullest measure of their gifts.

“Both WMU and Samford are committed to adequately preparing leaders for the future and pursuing excellence in learning, not for our own sake, but for the sake of the kingdom of God,” said Wanda S. Lee, executive director of national WMU.

Lee said since the CWLC was established in 1999, much has been accomplished in establishing relationships between WMU, Samford and many women in leadership in Birmingham.

WMU and Samford are making plans to grow the CWLC through leadership development opportunities and more internships for students. The CWLC also holds luncheons the first Wednesday of every month at the WMU office.

“This informal learning environment has connected women from all walks of life doing ministry in various professional disciplines and secular work,” Lee said. “We believe there is value in Christian women coming together to share with one another and encourage each other to grow stronger in our place of service.”
