Dennis Swanberg thinks Christians need to laugh more. To that end, Swanberg, a Southern Baptist preacher, is filling a need for humor within the family of faith.
“I like to entertain, but I also like to put a little spiritual hook in my stories so that people will have some food for thought to go along with the laughter,” he added.
“Many of the stories I tell go back to when I was growing up. Of course, over the years they’ve been embellished a little, but that’s what I call pastoral license,” he said.
Pointing out Jesus used parables, Swanberg said people enjoy biblical truths, but want to see it applied to everyday life. He believes stories are one way to do this.
“If there’s no laughter around a house, there’s a problem,” he said. “One of the things I try to do is to help people see the lighter side of life, so that they in turn will see the brighter side which is Jesus.” (TAB)
