Chumley, William Earl

William Earl Chumley, longtime pastor of First Baptist Church, Boaz, in Marshall Baptist Association, died March 12. He was 73.

A graduate of Samford University in Birmingham and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Chumley also served as pastor of Second Baptist Church, Weogufka, in Central Baptist Association; Cave Springs Baptist Church, Attalla, in Etowah Baptist Association; and First Baptist Church, Grand Bay, in Mobile Baptist Association.

After retiring from First, Boaz, in 1987, he was named pastor emeritus.

Chumley also served on the executive committee of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and on various Mobile and Marshall association committees.

At the time of his death, Chumley was a member of First, Boaz.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia Ann Kelly Chumley; two daughters; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. (TAB)
