Judson College’s annual junior/sophomore pageant Oct. 7 featured a student performance of “Oz!,” a drama based on “The Wizard of Oz.”
The traditional pageant is a gift from the junior and sophomore classes to their upperclassmen, or “big sisters.”
A few characters were slightly changed for the production. The Tin Man became Tin Woman, the Cowardly Lion became Cowardly Lioness and Auntie Em became Auntie Ann after Ann Judson, for whom the college was named.
My husband, Robbie, is always on the lookout for “good wood.” On our drives outside of town, he often points to places where he can find dead pine logs that render hearts rich with sap or slow-burning woods for smoking meats.
With my pastoral duties resuming, I decided to preach through the Old Testament book of Job. What I did not anticipate, however, was the uncontrollable emotion I felt when I opened my Bible and began to speak.
They call my generation Baby Boomers, but when it comes to technology, we should be referred to as the ’Tweener Generation.
