Co-vocational Head Pastor – Dora, AL
Dora First Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a co-vocational Head Pastor who is called by God to shepherd, preach, teach, lead, and serve the congregation. The pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader and primary preaching pastor of the church while balancing pastoral ministry with outside employment or other vocational responsibilities.
The desired candidate will demonstrate sound doctrine, biblical character, pastoral maturity, servant leadership, and a heart for evangelism, discipleship, missions, and church unity. Because this is a co-vocational position, the pastor, church leadership, and congregation should share clear expectations regarding availability, weekly responsibilities, communication, and lay-leader support.
Candidates are to meet all the biblical qualifications for pastor/overseer found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. The pastor shall faithfully preach the Word according to 2 Timothy 4:1-5, shepherd the congregation according to Acts 20:17-32 and 1 Peter 5:1-4, equip the saints for ministry according to Ephesians 4:11-16, and lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission according to Matthew 28:18-20.
He will affirm and lead on the core biblical doctrines summarized in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000.
As a co-vocational pastor, he should demonstrate wisdom, diligence, integrity, and realistic time management while balancing pastoral ministry, family life, sermon preparation, church leadership, and outside vocational responsibilities. Helpful biblical principles are seen in Acts 18:1-4, 1 Corinthians 9:14-18, 1 Thessalonians 2:9-12, and 2 Thessalonians 3:7-9.
