Michael F. Terry, chair of the Christian Life Commission, pledged anew the commission’s faithfulness to Alabama Baptists during his report Nov. 17.
“Thank you, Alabama Baptists, for your faithfulness to us,” he said. The commission members teach, reach and preach about the moral issues of our day, he said.
Quoting the commission’s purpose statement, Terry said the commission has a responsibility to study current issues, inform Alabama Baptists on those issues, to recommend courses of action and to relate involvement in current issues to the Christian message.
It also promotes special Sunday emphases on social issues such as sanctity of human life, world hunger, anti-gambling and religious liberty to inform Alabama Baptists about those issues.
“The members of the commission strive to fulfill that purpose as we carry information and opportunities to impact the moral life of Alabama back to our respective areas of the state.”
He added that the commission fulfills that by providing speakers to churches and also publishing the Christian Life Report to encapsulate letters and essays on social issues.
“We stand ready to serve and keep faith with you as you keep faith with our Lord,” Terry said.
