September 19 was a time to bring in the extra chairs at Black Creek Baptist Church, Collinsville, as a record number of people — 300, to be exact — gathered to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
“It says a lot about the community and the ministry to reflect on 150 years of service,” said Gerald Foster, a longtime member of the Etowah Baptist Association church who spoke during the celebration. The church received plaques from Etowah Association and the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission.
While Senior Pastor Jonathan Powell said it was “amazing” to hear how God had been faithful to the church in the past, he is focused on following His will for the future. “It is our mission to see lives changed as people come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior,” Powell said.
