Convention-college liaison still strong

Convention-college liaison still strong

The Education Commission, established in 1979, serves several purposes, including serving as liaison between the Alabama Baptist State Convention and the Baptist colleges across the state.

Chairman Jerry Henry reported the commission met three times during the year, once each at Judson College in Marion, Samford University in Birmingham and the University of Mobile.

“We talk about finances, student life and academics,” he said. “We hear from the university presidents and let them hear from us.

“Southern Baptists take education very seriously,” Henry noted.

“We want our young people to be on the cutting edge as well as enthusiastic about the Christian walk — to be salt and light in their worlds and make a difference for Jesus Christ.”   (TAB)
