The deadline for church contributions given through the Cooperative Program and designated causes for the year 2000 will be Dec. 29, according to officials at the State Board of Missions.
Any contributions received after that time, whether sent by mail or delivered in person, will be counted toward a church’s 2001 giving.
“Since the last business day of the year is Dec. 29, we can accept contributions through 4:30 p.m. on that day,” said Bobby DuBois, SBOM’s chief financial officer. “After that, we will be closed until Jan. 2, when the Baptist Building will reopen in the new year at 7:30 a.m.”
DuBois, who serves as associate executive director, said it appears the Cooperative Program base budget will again be exceeded this year.
“In every year since 1993, Alabama Baptists have given so generously to missions and ministries that receipts exceed budgeted amounts,” he said.
“When this happens, the receipts are applied toward the ‘Challenge Budget,’ which provides additional dollars to further enhance kingdom work in Alabama and around the world,” DuBois added.
Rick Lance, State Board of Missions executive director-treasurer, expressed appreciation to Alabama Baptists for their generous support of the Cooperative Program.
“I am grateful for this strong and certain support of state missions, North American missions and international missions,” Lance said.
“We look forward to the future as we reach out together to fulfill the Great Commission,” he added. (ABSC)
