Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, Verbena, celebrated its 150th anniversary May 15. William Key, former Corinth pastor and current pastor at Collins Chapel Baptist Church, Jemison, was the guest speaker.
Members shared testimonies of their memories and how the church has met needs in the community. They listened to an audio recording of Lawrence Eugene Jones (now deceased) in which he talked about the history of the church. Special music was provided by members Rodney Nance and Kim Bowen and guest pianist Wendy Pierce. Kay Tippett, music director, led the congregational singing. Plaques were presented to Pastor Bert Tippett (left) and Deacon Jonathan Bowen (right) by Pat Musselwhite of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission and Tyler Eiland, director of missions for Chilton Baptist Association.
“The celebration inspired us to see that even though we are a small congregation, we can continue and go forward,” said Pastor Bert Tippett. Lunch was served in the fellowship hall following the service.
