Covington Baptist Association held its first large-scale evangelism conference — the Southeast Alabama Evangelism Conference — at Bethany Baptist Church, Andalusia, Feb. 2–3. The conference was designed to give attendees “a renewed vision of lostness in the world.”
Speakers included Ric Camp, pastor of Sonrise Baptist Church, Mobile; Frank Cox, pastor of North Metro First Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Sammy Gilbreath, director of the office of evangelism for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions; Darryl Jones, pastor of Freedom Baptist Church, Ranburne; and Billy Smith, full-time evangelist from Mississippi.
Matt Brady, evangelism director for Covington Association and senior pastor of Carolina Baptist Church, Andalusia, also spoke.
“Over 80 percent of Covington County is unchurched,” Brady said, challenging believers to reach out. “Jesus gave the Church the Great Commission, not the great consideration.”
Larry Cummings is director of missions.
