NASHVILLE — July receipts for contributions through the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) Cooperative Program (CP) are up from July 2004, according to a news release from SBC Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Morris H. Chapman. Receipts of $18,644,757.93 in July 2005 were 7.94 percent, or $1,371,873.96, above the $17,272,883.97 received in July 2004.
The year-to-date contributions are also up 2.23 percent compared to the same time frame in 2004. As of July 31, 2005, the year-to-date total of $163,661,881.83 for CP Missions is $3,569,859.20 ahead of the $160,092,022.63 received at the same point in 2004. Designated giving of $178,725,787.89 for the same year-to-date period is 0.71 percent, or $1,276,719.19, below gifts of $180,002,507.08 received at this point last year.
The $7,827,770.46 in designated gifts received in July of this year is $475,323.35 below the $8,303,093.81 received in July 2004, a decrease of 5.72 percent. For the SBC CP Allocation Budget, the year-to-date total of $163,661,881.83 is 107.20 percent of the $152,668,078.40 budgeted, or $10,993,803.43 above budget.
At the close of their last fiscal year, Oct. 1, 2003 to Sept. 30, 2004, Southern Baptists recorded a 3.64 percent increase in CP giving, for a record total of $189,865,254.85.
