“Good God Almighty,” the toe-tapping, can’t-help-but-sing-along song by Crowder, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Chart April 21, a first-ever achievement for Crowder.
The single previews what fans can expect on Crowder’s forthcoming “Milk & Honey” album, set for release on June 11 by Capitol Christian Music Group and Atlanta-based sixstepsrecords.
The Grammy Award-nominated singer teamed up with Atlanta-based collective Maverick City Choir for the single and recorded the video for the song at Trilith Studios, the television and film production studio south of Atlanta where many Marvel films have been shot.
“It was amazing to be back with my bandmates and partnering with Maverick City Choir again,” Crowder told TAB Media. “This song has continually been a reminder for myself and so many others that no matter what, God is still good. That we were made by God to be together in unison praising Him at the top of our lungs. So that is what we did in this video.”
The video has accumulated more than 3 million streams and counting since it’s release April 10.
‘Long overdue’
Crowder is a three-time Dove Award Winner and three-time Grammy nominee who is armed with RIAA Platinum and Gold Certifications, more than 1 billion global streams and more than 2.5 million followers on social media.
Maverick City Music currently has 12 Stellar nominations and consists of Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, Dante Bowe and others. Jonathan Jay, co-founder of Maverick City and head of artists and repertoire for Tribl Records, said the collaboration between Maverick City and Crowder was “long overdue.”
“David has been a friend from afar for a while,” Jay told TAB Media. “The recording felt like musical harmony and a powerful moment around a song that speaks to the goodness of God and his unwavering love. Songs like ‘Good God Almighty’ are what our community needs now.”
