Q: How did you come to know the Lord?

A: I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home and was saved at the age of 13 while attending Vacation Bible School at Ninth Avenue Baptist Church, Birmingham.

Q: What church ministries are you involved in?

A: Over the years, I have served as Sunday School director (and) teacher, children’s director (and) assisted with youth groups. Currently serving as deacon chair, I have found deacon family ministry especially rewarding; also church outreach. Being a “church greeter” on Sunday mornings is something I love to do.

Q: What difference has Jesus Christ made in your life?

A: That personal relationship with Christ made it clear to me that God really knows me and has a plan for my life. Throughout the events in my life — marriage, military service, work life, sickness and health — I’ve sensed and trusted the hand of God. I can face tomorrow.

Q: What are some of your favorite things about church?

A: The whole idea about church inspires me. To enter the building is a blessing as I’m excited to worship and I’m reminded of how special my church family, my pastor and his wife are to me. Our pastor often says that we get to do things for Christ. That puts my life into perspective — I get to serve Him.
