Gary Fenton, pastor of Dawson Memorial Church, Birmingham, for 25 years, has announced his upcoming retirement set for Aug. 28. A Missouri native, Fenton has served in full-time senior pastor positions for 44 years. During his time at Dawson, he has led the church to give more than $10 million to Southern Baptist causes. He and his wife, Alta Faye, have three daughters and five grandchildren.
