Dawson Memorial Church, Birmingham, will hold information and training programs about Alzheimer’s disease Nov. 9 in the chapel. Caregiver training will be 1:30–3:30 p.m. with guest speakers Donna Lott, Juno Sharp and Mel York. The program will be helpful for those who know and care for someone with dementia and will include “Communication Do’s and Don’ts” and “Safety Issues for Those with Dementia.” “Alzheimer’s is a Disease of the Mind, Not the Soul” will be 4–5:30 p.m. with Dr. Richard Powers, geriatric psychiatrist and neuropathologist and associate professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
