Countless Alabama Baptist churches undergo new construction and remodeling projects every year, and many quickly realize the need for professional assistance in achieving their desired results.
Each January, the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) and LifeWay Christian Resources organize two identical building conferences to help churches construct facilities that honor God, fulfill the Great Commission and reach people for Christ.
This year, the conferences will be held Jan. 27 at Parkview Baptist Church, Decatur, and Jan. 28 at First Baptist Church, Clanton, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The church building conference is designed to inform church leaders of the steps in the building process and to introduce them to professionals that will be their partners throughout the building process to help them accomplish their purpose,” said Gary Swafford, director of church planting and building services at SBOM.
The event themed “Building to Revitalize and Evangelize” will consist of several general sessions led by state missionaries and professionals in the building community. Topics include the importance of building good facilities, financing construction projects, master planning for long range growth and leading your church to build.
Breakout sessions will provide information on choosing an architect, remodeling, media, the 21st century church and multipurpose and educational space.
For more information on the building conferences, contact the SBOM associational and cooperative missions office at 1-800-264-1225, Ext. 244, or prhodes@alsbom.org.
