DecembeRadio
Slanted Records
It’s a very young, turn-of-the-century sounding attempt at a hip band name, but DecembeRadio has, for the most part, a very premillennial sound, treading sonic ground where few Christian bands have since the mid-90s. Occasionally certain blends of Josh Reedy’s vocals and Scotty Wilbanks’ (Third Day, NewSong) guest organ evoke today’s garage/new wave revival a la Jet, but what DecembeRadio is really good at is filtering classic hard-rock style through its astute appreciation for the good to be found in modern alternative (The first 10 seconds of “Least of These” sounds like a cover of The Who’s “Teenage Wasteland”). The result is rock overload. But no one seems to mind — DecembeRadio is supposed to be the next big thing, and it’s really easy to hear why. The band is good.
