Q: What was your childhood like?
A: I grew up in the Center Point area and attended Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. I grew up in a nice Christian home. Rev. J. Ivey Edwards baptized me when I was 11 years old.

Q: How have you been involved in church through the years?
A: I taught Sunday School for several years at Dawson. I also taught a young women’s class while we lived in Tallahassee, Fla. I do many things at [First,] Pell City, but one of my favorite ministries is one I created. My husband and I have the privilege to help [pay] for people to go on missions trips all over the world. It costs a lot to go on a missions trip, so we help people who cannot afford it. We also have a nursing home ministry. My husband and I go to different nursing homes and visit people. I had the privilege recently to visit someone and carry them a lily.

Q: What did you get from those ministries?
A: I get a blessing out of all of the things I do at my First Baptist Church of Pell City.

Q: How have churches changed over the years?
A: My church has grown to be more missions-minded than it was when I was growing up.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in church in the future?
A: I will continue to sponsor missions. I will also continue to attend Sunday School, (be) a member of WMU and (be) the church clerk for as long as God wants me to.

Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: God has enabled me to grow through the trials of life.
