Disagreeing on torture

The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission President Richard Land’s position on waterboarding (“‘Waterboarding’ is torture and never ethical for intelligence gathering, says SBC’s Land,” May 21 issue) is completely out of the main thought of most Alabama Baptists with whom I am acquainted. These terrorists — angels of Satan — have no respect for human life. Any method to foil their plans and activities should be used. I doubt that the victims of 9/11 would condemn waterboarding if they could have been saved by information thereby attained. Human life is precious only if used for helping others. These instruments of Satan can’t be classed as human beings.
