Anthony "Tony" Chute was named 2007 Alumnus of the Year by Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School Jan. 30.
Chute, who received a Master of Divinity degree from Beeson in 1997, is assistant professor of church history at California Baptist University (CBU), Riverside, Calif.
He serves as pastor of preaching at First Baptist Church, Moreno Valley, in addition to his teaching duties.
Chute earned a Ph.D. in church history/historical theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2002. A member of the CBU faculty since 2003, he is the author of several books.
He and his wife, Connie, have two children.
