Thank you for your package of articles on divorced pastors in the April 23 issue. My husband and I recently went through this exact problem. He was called to a church, and they were happy with us (doctrine, preaching, etc.) until they found out that my husband was divorced (he divulged the information upon God’s prompting). Then the pulpit committee called and said, “The deacons do not want to bring you before the church.”
We both felt the Holy Spirit leading us to this church and I believe they felt it too. I am saddened that there are lost souls in that community and that church has no pastor to lead them. I even more saddened that my husband (who is ordained) and serves God with all his heart, is left behind because of a divorce. By the way, his divorce is biblical (his ex-wife left him and remarried). I thank you again for your article.
